Two weeks of bliss at Chillingham New South Wales

Thought for the day. 'If You Don't Go Within, You Will Go Without'

Still uncertain where to hang my hat, but am trusting it will all unfold to me in due course. At present I am at Chillingham on a 20 acre property my 26 year old son Bobby is renting and have been here about ten days.  Its south of the New South Wales border and about one and a half to two hours drive from Brisbane. Bobby is in Singapore on business and I am enjoying the solitude, surrounded by rich bushland and thousands of beautiful trees . You can feel the energy, especially early mornings.  The beautiful timber home  fits in beautifully with its natural environment.
At dawn each morning I meditate to the sounds of early morning bird calls on a huge patio overlooking thousands of trees. . The dirt driveway that leads to the main road is half a kilometer long and I usually walk up and down it five times before breakfast, filling up small drinking bottles of water from the lagoon each time.  A dairy farm borders that section of the property and one morning there were six young calves grazing by the fence. They are so beautiful and it saddens me that a calf so young can be taken from it mother and slaughtered and later sold as tender veal.
How invigorating it has been to be able to strip down to nothing without fear of intrusion and take a dip in the crystal clear waters after my walks. Can't help thinking what a magic retreat this would be for those desiring to rid themselves from addictions.  Pity its so far from the Sunshine Coast where I know lots of people and have a much better chance of raising the money. Only  a million or two dollars is all it would take!!
Since going to Norfolk Island in 2001, I haven't owned a car and as my son drove his car to Brisbane, the only mode of transport ia my two legs. There'a a very small township four kilometers down the road. It's a winding road with dairy farms on either side. I dont mind the walk but after 9.00am when the post offce and small store opens, it gets too hot for walking. Not that I notice it here on the property. At night I am still sleeping with a doona.
Its very easy to loose track of time here. No TV, no radio and no newspapers, no clock and no reception for a mobile phone. No distracions whatsoever. There is a clock on my lap top which is still on Queensland time and not 'daylight saving time' as we have here in NSW, but I usually forget to look at it. Time is irrellevant. It's four kilometers to a very small township along a very winding road. There are dairy farms along the way. I dont mind the walk, but not after 9.00 am where the sun is fairly strong.
Nights on my own have been challenging. There aren't any locks on doors and Iuntil my  daughter stayed with me two nights, I wasn't concerned. She has been living in the ciry for several years and was a bit paranoid about everything being left wide open. I realized later that I had allowed her thoughts to play havoc with my mind.  It was lovely having her and as she and her boyfriend have the TV blaring constantly, even when eating their evening meal, and shes busy with work during the day whenever I stay with her, it was a quiet time of sharing. Although she loves the city and its lifestyel,  I am sure that deep down she's a country girl. She has taken on a part time second job assisting the homeless and is presently in training for it. The pay is a pittance compared to what she earns in her regular job, but she's not in it for the money.
So that I'm not sitting at a lap top constantly I brought a pile of books to read. Am presently reading Whaty Your Doctor Doesn't know About Nutritional Medicine May Be Killing You. It's written by an American doctor. Bobby also gave me a book recently called 'One Thousand Petalled Lotus by Annette Noontil. She's from Australia and I read her first book The Body is the Barometer of the Soul' several years ago. I have also brought Deepak Chopra's book 'Life After Death and look forward to reading that.
Bobby left  instructions so I could set up my laptop and use the net, but I wasn't able to get on. It's just as well as I really needed to focus on the finishing touches on my book. He arrived home last night so am putting time aside to respond to emails and write my first blog. He's going away again this weekend so I might stay on for another week. I was supposed to be going to Gympie to stay in another house whilst a friend goes to Holland, but it's no concern to him whether I am there or not. Will still have a week or so there before going to New Zealand for the New Year.
I wish you all joy and laughter
